Darcy and Tory are taken to Solaria

Darcy and Tory Vega are eighteen-year-old twins barely surviving in the mortal world after being pushed out of their foster home. They are broke, angry, and used to relying only on each other.

Professor Orion finds them and reveals the truth: they are not human. They are Fae, the long-lost daughters of King and Queen Vega of Solaria. Their parents were murdered, the twins were hidden in the mortal world, and now that they are eighteen, their magical signatures have surfaced.

Orion brings them to Solaria with stardust. The twins are suspicious, but the promise of inheritance and answers pulls them into Zodiac Academy.

The Awakening ceremony

At Zodiac Academy, new students go through the Awakening ceremony to reveal their Elements. Most Fae have one or two Elements tied to their Zodiac signs.

Darcy and Tory shock everyone by awakening all four: air, fire, water, and earth. That level of power has not been seen in thousands of years.

The reveal makes them valuable, dangerous, and deeply inconvenient for the current Solarian power structure. The Vega twins are not just new students. They are rival heirs.

The Celestial Heirs make them targets

Principal Nova confirms the twins' royal lineage and introduces the Celestial Heirs: Darius Acrux, Caleb Altair, Max Rigel, and Seth Capella. The Heirs are the sons of Solaria's powerful elemental families and the expected future rulers.

The Heirs see Darcy and Tory as threats to their birthright. Their response is immediate hostility, intimidation, and a campaign to drive the twins out before they can claim real power.

For readers tracking tone, this is where the book makes clear that Zodiac Academy is not cozy magic school. It is an 18+ bully academy story built around cruelty, status, and magical dominance.

House selection and initiation

Because the twins have so much power, they are placed in different houses. Tory joins Ignis, the Fire house connected to Darius. Darcy joins Aer, the Air house connected to Seth.

The initiations are brutal. Tory has to walk through a literal wall of fire. Darcy is forced to choose between cutting her hair or jumping from a rooftop, so she jumps and survives by using her Air power.

The twins also begin finding allies. Sofia Cygnus is kind to Tory, Diego Polaris befriends Darcy, and Geraldine Grus proudly supports the Vegas through the Almighty Sovereign Society.

The Orb at Zodiac Academy

The Orb becomes one of the central places where academy politics, humiliation, and public power games play out.

Classes, coercion, and early secrets

Darcy and Tory begin classes in Cardinal Magic, Elemental training, and Order Enhancement. Their Order remains unknown, but their four-Element power makes every lesson more loaded.

In Orion's class, the twins receive a mysterious warning from someone calling themselves Falling Star. The message hints that Orion has secrets and that the twins should be careful.

Orion teaches them mental shields through magical coercion, forcing them to endure pressure so they can learn to resist it. Darcy is assigned Orion as her Liaison, while Tory is assigned Professor Prestos.

Darcy starts forming a complicated connection with Orion. Tory is pulled into dangerous chemistry and rivalry with Darius and Caleb, especially after Caleb feeds from her magic and treats her as his Source.

The Heirs escalate

The Heirs keep attacking the twins socially, magically, and physically. Darcy is coerced into kissing Seth, then later humiliated when he cuts off her blue-tipped hair and keeps it like a trophy.

Tory is blackmailed with leaked photos, fed on by Caleb, and later nearly drowned by Darius and Max after being forced to confront her fear of deep water.

The twins do not collapse under the pressure. Tory retaliates publicly against the student who leaked her photos, and both sisters keep pushing back even when the school is stacked against them.

The night out and the Nymph attack

Darcy and Tory sneak out with Diego and Sofia. They see Orion on a date and overhear a conversation that makes him seem suspicious.

Following a message from Falling Star, the twins go to an alley and are attacked by a shadowy Nymph-like creature that can block their powers. The attack confirms that the danger around them is bigger than academy bullying.

The night briefly puts the twins near the Heirs in a less hostile setting, with dances and uneasy chemistry, but the temporary softness does not last. Geraldine is attacked and nearly killed, and Orion is initially suspicious because he is found covered in blood. It later turns out he saved her.

Falling Star reveals himself

Professor Astrum, the twins' Tarot teacher, is revealed as Falling Star. He warns Darcy and Tory that their parents' murder may have involved a deeper conspiracy, possibly tied to the Acrux family.

He tells them not to trust the flames and says the answers lie "between Leo and Libra."

The twins also learn more about their father, Hail Vega, the so-called Savage King. Their royal legacy is not simple or soft. It is tangled in fear, power, and old bloodshed.

The dance turns violent

At the Academy dance, the Heirs' cruelty reaches a new level. Seth tricks Darcy, kisses her, and cuts off her hair in front of others, turning something personal into public humiliation.

Darius coerces Tory toward the pool despite her trauma around deep water. Max and Darius freeze the surface while Tory is trapped underneath, leaving her close to drowning.

Orion and Darcy arrive in time, and Orion saves Tory. He punishes the Heirs with detention, but their status limits what he can really do to them.

Professor Astrum is murdered

Outside The Orb, a massive fire reveals Professor Astrum's burned corpse. A Death tarot card floats to the twins with a final message from him.

The warning names the Shadow, repeats that the answers are between Leo and Libra, tells them not to trust the flames, and urges them to claim their throne.

The book ends with Darcy and Tory shaken, injured, and holding proof that the conspiracy around their parents, the Heirs, and Solaria is far from over.
