The twins try to leave

After the dance, the pool attack, and Professor Astrum's murder, Darcy and Tory shut themselves in Darcy's room. They refuse to see Diego, Sofia, or anyone else.

The next morning, they decide they are done with Solaria. Their plan is to steal enough gold and stardust to escape back to Earth during the assembly about Astrum's death.

Tory breaks into Darius's room, steals treasure, and finds a strange dagger that seems to call to her. Darcy goes after stardust in Orion's office but gets caught. During the struggle, she accidentally throws Orion off Aer Tower. He survives, confiscates the stardust, and lets her go.

Before leaving Darius's room, Tory sets it on fire with her Fire Element.

They choose revenge instead

When Darcy and Tory reunite, they do not leave after all. Instead, they decide to stay at Zodiac Academy and make the Heirs pay.

Tory secretly watches Darius discover his ruined room, while Orion sends Darcy the name of a book that can help her regrow her hair after Seth cut it off.

Caleb visits Tory and explains that, because she is his Source, he cannot harm her. He also admits that what happened at the dance disturbed him. The apology is limited, but it complicates the dynamic between them.

Revenge plots and Nymph lessons

Darcy finds the hair-regrowth book in Venus Library and also discovers a spell to summon Werewolf lice. She plans to use it against Seth.

After Caleb mocks Sofia for being a Pegasus, Tory starts the twins' revenge campaign by spreading rumors about Caleb having a Pegasus fetish. The twins also learn about bloodline preservation and the extinction of their father Hail Vega's Hydra Order.

Orion announces that Astrum was killed by a Nymph, then teaches the class about creatures that feed on Fae magic. FIB Agent Francesca Sky questions the twins about Astrum's death, but they are cleared.

Guardians, secrets, and Max

Geraldine and Angelica, Darius's illegitimate cousin, step into protective roles for the twins during Water Elemental class. Their Order forms make it clear the Vegas are no longer completely undefended.

One night, Tory is drawn by a strange melody to Max in his Siren form. A celestial alignment forces Max to sing and kiss her, and Tory learns one of his secrets: he is illegitimate and believes his stepmother poisoned his biological mother.

Tory could use the information as blackmail, but she chooses not to. Later, when Max tries to use his Siren power on her at lunch, she breaks the compulsion and attacks him, warning him away from both sisters.

The Guardian bond

The FIB investigates Darius's burned room, forcing Tory to hide the stolen dagger. After escaping Darius in Dragon form, Tory and Darcy bury the stolen treasure in the Wailing Wood with Geraldine's help.

Tory notices that Orion and Darius have matching tattoos. Geraldine explains that they are linked by a Guardian bond, a soul-level connection that compels Orion to protect Darius, even at the cost of his own life.

That revelation changes how the twins understand Orion. His choices are not simply personal; some of them are bound to Darius and the Acrux family.

Darius trains Tory

Darius tells the twins that Lionel Acrux wants them at Acrux Manor to meet the Celestial Council. Tory refuses at first, but Darius offers fire training and promises to behave better at the party if she agrees.

During training, Tory and Darius connect through their fire magic. The session is intense, charged, and harder to dismiss than their usual antagonism.

Tory and Darius's fire training sharpens the book's most volatile romantic tension.

Darcy and Orion cross a line

Darcy continues private Liaison sessions with Orion, and the attraction between them becomes increasingly difficult to ignore.

In Tarot class, the twins find another of Astrum's cards and a hidden compartment with a picture and instructions to ask about Clara Orion.

At Acrux Manor, Darcy and Orion share a private moment at the pool. Orion creates a magical air pocket underwater, and they kiss. They both know it cannot be simple, and they agree it cannot happen again, which does not make the feelings disappear.

Darcy and Orion's forbidden connection becomes impossible to ignore at Acrux Manor.

The Acrux Manor party

Darius and Orion escort the twins to Acrux Manor, where they meet the Celestial Council. Lionel Acrux is threatening, but the twins insist they are not interested in claiming the throne.

They also meet Hamish Grus, Geraldine's father, and recognize him from Astrum's photo.

Tory meets Darius's fiancée, Mildred Canopus, who attacks verbally and with Dragon Fire. Tory also meets Darius's younger brother Xavier and unexpectedly bonds with him. Darius thanks her for cheering Xavier up and shows her his bikes before Lionel interrupts.

Later, Tory challenges Caleb to a game that leads to them having sex. Darius finds out and is visibly furious. Before the night ends, he tells Tory his actions were not personal, which only makes her angrier.

The twins hit back

Gustav Vulpecula publishes a cruel article about Darcy and Tory, painting Darcy as unstable and Tory as reckless. The twins respond by escalating their own sabotage.

They plant an inflatable Pegasus sex doll in Caleb's room, making him the center of a viral joke. Darcy successfully infests Seth with Werewolf lice. Tory frames Milton Hubert for stealing Darius's possessions by planting evidence and a fake love note.

With Geraldine, they also sabotage the Heirs' Pitball equipment, including putting Griffin excrement in Max's uniform.

The Pitball match and Nymph attack

At the match against Starlight Academy, the Heirs play badly because of the sabotage, and Zodiac loses despite Geraldine's strong performance.

When Darcy and Tory joke that they might reclaim their crown after all, the Heirs challenge and overpower them, leaving them trapped in the Pit.

Then Nymphs attack the stadium. In the chaos, Darcy and Tory are separated and each discovers a strange red-blue flame power that can kill the creatures.

Darcy uses the power to save Orion. Tory uses it to protect Darius after he is badly injured in Dragon form. The twins reunite as the Nymphs retreat, shaken by what they have just done.

The ending

The Nymph attack changes the balance at Zodiac Academy. The Heirs still oppose the twins, but Darcy and Tory have proved they are not powerless, not disposable, and not only royal symbols.

Darius admits they have proved their worth, though he is clearly threatened by their power. Tory's concern for Darius and Darcy's connection to Orion both leave emotional complications in the aftermath.

The book ends with the greater enemy becoming harder to ignore. The Heirs, the twins, Orion, and their allies may hate each other, but the Nymph threat is bigger than school rivalry.
