Book Recap: Restless Stars - Book 9 in the Zodiac Academy Series
Darius Returns and the Queens Escape
Darius Acrux returns from death and reunites with Xavier, Orion, and the Heirs. His return changes the morale of the rebellion and puts him back beside Tory before the final stage of the war.
Tory and Darcy are trapped in a cavern after Clydinius escapes wearing their faces. They deal with dangerous magic, false versions of themselves, and the immediate problem that the enemy can impersonate them. When they return to Zodiac Academy, guards doubt their identities until Orion, Caleb, Darius, and Geraldine help prove that they are the real queens.
At The Orb, the group reviews the new situation. Clydinius is loose, the Guild Stones are still central to the war, Lavinia's shadow power has changed, and the Shadow Beast has been freed. The rebellion prepares for the next phase against Lionel, Lavinia, and the fallen-star threat.
Xavier and Sofia infiltrate the Court of Solaria to find Gus Vulpecula. Xavier destroys Lionel's office and symbols of his father's rule. Sofia helps him capture Gus, and the Court of Solaria falls further out of Lionel's control.
The Guild Stones
Darius and Tory pursue one of the Guild Stones at the FIB impound. Darcy, Tory, Orion, and Darius later work through wards and traps beneath the mountain, enter a hidden chamber, face an ancient monster in the Void, and secure the stone.
The group then enters the cursed city of Herithe to find the final Guild Stone. The city's magic separates them. Lance and Seth are trapped together in a freezing chamber. Xavier, Sofia, Tyler, and Washer fight through traps and hostile magic. Other parts of the group face carnivorous plants and the curse that protects the city.
Orion and Blue receive a vision from Arcturus about the origin of the Guild Stones. The Vetus stars created them so Fae could reclaim their destinies from the Novus stars. Twelve chosen Fae became the first circle of fate-weavers. The vision explains why the stones matter but does not explain exactly how to use them.
Darcy and Lance also go to the Library of the Lost to search for information. They find old texts and magical books that may explain the stones, but the search adds more pressure because the rebellion still does not have every answer it needs.
Lionel, Lavinia, and Clydinius Escalate the War
Lionel prepares another offensive using his army and power connected to a fallen star. Clydinius becomes central to the threat because he has already impersonated the queens and is tied to the larger imbalance around the stars, the Guild Stones, and Lavinia's power.
Tory and Darcy fight Lavinia above Aqua Lake. Lavinia's power is stronger than before, and the battle spreads across Zodiac Academy as Nymphs and Lionel's forces attack. Dante, Gabriel, and the others defend the academy. Lavinia's power eventually falters, which turns the battle toward the rebels, but the result is not treated as a final victory.
After the battle, Darius joins the war council. The group connects Lavinia's power to a fallen star and understands that Lionel is using more than ordinary magic. The rebels also learn that a trapped and suffering star may be part of what is powering the enemy side.
Darcy and Tory visit the Nymph village to seek allies. They try to convince the Nymph leaders that joining the fight against Lionel and Lavinia is necessary for survival. The diplomacy makes progress, but the Nymphs are not immediately easy allies.
Orion and Max attack the Nebula Inquisition Centre. Orion breaks through wards with air and water, while Max uses Siren magic to break defensive magic. They free captive water-based Orders and add more allies to the rebellion.
Gabriel has a vision of a great wave killing his family and friends. He warns the others that Lionel's forces are growing and that hidden poison may be a threat inside their own ranks.
Final Preparations
Caleb challenges his mother and wins, proving that he can claim authority as a Celestial Councillor. He then publicly declares his love for Seth. Under the moon, Caleb and Seth are revealed as Moon Mates.
Xavier, Sofia, and Tyler grow closer after the fighting. Their relationship becomes more solid while Xavier continues acting directly against Lionel's rule.
Roxy and Darius plan for the war. Roxy works on a dangerous idea involving The Ferryman, and Darius pushes her to be honest about what she is doing. Roxy later gives Darius specially crafted golden armour before the battle.

Tory gives armor to Darius
Darcy and Lance go to Aer Cove and use the Guild Stones to summon Arcturus. He refuses to intervene directly, but the meeting tests what they believe about the stones and the war. Later, Orion proposes to Darcy at Howling Meadow, and she says yes.

Lance proposes to Darcy
Caleb, Seth, Orion, and the others fight Dragons while trying to protect rebels and rescue Seth after his car is attacked. Seth is nearly killed before being saved.
Max and Darcy chase a Dragon that carries Geraldine away. Max uses Siren magic to save her while Darcy protects him from falling wreckage.
Tharix is dragged into an encounter with The Ferryman. He loses the souls and powers he was carrying and returns cursed and transformed.
The rebels spend their final night before battle preparing, grieving, and saying what needs to be said. Then they march against Lionel.
The Battle for Solaria
Lionel's army attacks with war machines, Dragons, and overwhelming numbers. The rebels fight to hold their position. Xavier, Tory, Darcy, Max, Darius, Orion, Caleb, Seth, Gabriel, Geraldine, and the other rebels all take part in the battle.
The fight changes when monsters begin pouring from a crack in the mountain. The rebels now have to fight Lionel's army and the new creatures at the same time.
The battle becomes a survival fight. The rebels use desperate magic, call on the dead to fight, and keep trying to hold the line despite major losses. The final stretch forces the characters through death, grief, and repeated near-defeats.
The rebels survive the war for Solaria, but the victory is costly. The ending leaves the kingdom changed by the losses and by the scale of the battle.
Restless Stars is the final main book in the Zodiac Academy series.
Where the key characters are at the end of Restless Stars:
Tory Vega / Roxy
Survives the final war as one of Solaria's true queens. Her heart remains bound to Darius, and she helps lead the rebellion through the final battle against Lionel, Lavinia, and Clydinius. She wins, but the cost of the war stays with her.
Darcy Vega / Blue
Survives as a crowned queen with her Phoenix power restored and her shadow bond transformed into strength rather than a curse. She helps gather allies, face the star threat, and fight for a Solaria that can finally change.
Darius Acrux
Alive after Tory pulled him back from death. He fights beside her in the final war, wearing the golden armour she gives him, and their shared-heart bond remains one of the series' biggest romantic anchors.
Lance Orion
Free of Lavinia's Death Bond and fully back at Darcy's side. He helps uncover the truth of the Guild Stones, faces Arcturus, survives the war, and proposes to Darcy before the final battle.
Gabriel Nesta
Still carrying the burden of Sight. His visions warn the rebels that disaster is coming, and his role remains crucial as they try to change fate before Lionel's final strike can destroy them.
Caleb Altair
Claims his authority as a Celestial Councillor by challenging his mother and winning. Most importantly, he finally declares his love for Seth, and the two are confirmed as Moon Mates.
Seth Capella
Survives the war and finally gets the love he has been trying, badly, loudly, and painfully, to pretend he does not need. His bond with Caleb becomes official under the moon.
Max Rigel
Uses his Siren magic in key rebel victories, including the rescue at the Nebula Inquisition Centre and the fight to save Geraldine. He remains one of the Heirs most openly loyal to the queens by the end.
Geraldine Grus
Still magnificent, still devoted, and still one of the emotional engines of the rebellion. She is taken during the war but rescued by Max and Darcy, and she survives to see the queens' cause triumph.
Xavier Acrux
Steps fully out of Lionel's shadow. He destroys symbols of his father's rule, helps capture Gus Vulpecula, and finds love, comfort, and loyalty with Sofia and Tyler while fighting for a freer Solaria.
Dante Oscura
Fights with the rebels as Lionel's forces attack Zodiac Academy and the war spreads across campus. He helps hold the line alongside Gabriel and the others during the escalation toward the final battle.
Sofia Cygnus
Stands with Xavier through the fall of the Court of Solaria and the final stage of the rebellion. Her relationship with Xavier and Tyler becomes one of the softer, steadier lights in the middle of the war.
Tyler Corbin
Continues supporting the rebellion through information, loyalty, and his bond with Xavier and Sofia. He remains part of the future Xavier chooses for himself after surviving Lionel's abuse.
Gus Vulpecula
Hunted by Xavier and Sofia during their infiltration of the Court of Solaria. He is captured as Xavier destroys Lionel's office and the symbols of his father's rule.
Lionel Acrux
His reign is finally broken. After years of abuse, propaganda, executions, shadow alliances, and war, Lionel's hold over Solaria collapses in the final battle.
Lavinia Umbra
Her power is weakened as the truth of the fallen star and Lionel's larger plans come apart. She remains terrifying through the final war, but the shadow empire she built with Lionel is brought down.
The Ferryman
Becomes central to Roxy's dangerous plan and to Tharix's transformation. His encounter with Tharix strips away the souls and powers Tharix had been carrying.
Tharix
Dragged into a horrific encounter with The Ferryman. He loses the souls and powers he had been carrying and returns cursed, transformed, and changed by death in a way that leaves him dangerous but no longer what he was.
Clydinius
The fallen star threat that began with the Imperial Star curse reaches its end here. After impersonating the Vega twins and warping the fate of Solaria, Clydinius is finally stopped in the series finale.
